King Felipe VI urged "working together" to reach "agreed solutions" to the tariff war initiated by Donald Trump. The monarch spoke these words this Monday in his opening speech at the Invest in Spain Summit international forum, being held in Madrid. More than 75 multinationals from 25 countries , 22 of them from the United States, will meet with government representatives to explore investment opportunities.

The Government and the Head of State have created this space to present Spain as an ideal destination for productive investment, showing the world the nation as a stable country and a reliable partner within this context of international change and instability.

Felipe VI insisted that united forces are essential to address the "fragmentation, isolation, and volatility" generated by U.S. tariff policies.

The monarch also insisted on the need to "strengthen" the European Union's foreign market, "making it more cohesive and increasing our strategic autonomy," but without abandoning "our openness" and "our identity and tradition" as "defenders of the free market."

Felipe VI reiterated the importance of establishing alliances and working hard with EU partners in matters of investment flows and trade. However, at the same time, he also urged the incorporation of "new actors to guarantee the expansion of benefits for all parties." In this regard, he highlighted the EU-Mercosur agreement as "fundamental" for Spain and Europe.

The head of state's message to the investor audience was to convey that Spain is an ideal investment destination because "here, in our country, you will find a robust, reliable, and stable response to your needs," he asserted.

"Spain is one of the most attractive destinations in the world for foreign investment," he asserted. With more than 18,000 foreign-owned companies already operating in the country and an 80% increase in their stock over the last 10 years, the monarch reiterated, "This success is also a recognition of the strength of our business network and the experience of our human capital."

At the same time, he emphasized Spain's commitment to openness toward foreign investment "guided by the values ​​of freedom, democracy, and the rule of law."

Another point Felipe VI highlighted in his speech about Spain is "our privileged geostrategic position," which provides access to other markets outside the EU. "From Spain, it's very easy to access the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Middle East, and, above all, Latin America and the Caribbean," he listed.

The Head of State did not fail to mention renewable energy, placing Spain as a "world leader" in this area. He also added that our country is "at the forefront" of fiber optic connections.
